Oaks, maples, and walnut trees can exhibit signs of stress and
decline; during our tree talk learn how to identify signs and symptoms of tree
stress and diseases like bur oak blight (BOB), sudden oak death
(SOD) and anthracnose.
August is ‘tree check’ month, learn
more about spotted lanternfly, Asian
longhorned beetle and other tree pest threats, how to identify, manage
and report them. Participants
will receive the newly updated Management of Invasive Plants and Pests of
Illinois guide.
Our speaker is Tricia Bethke the Forest Pest Outreach Coordinator for the State
of Illinois. Tricia’s responsibilities include statewide training of key
stakeholders on invasive species, forest pest identification, regulations and
quarantines and reporting protocols. Tricia also coordinates and instructs tree
identification, pest detection, and tree health monitoring programs. She was
recently featured in a Chicago Tribune article on tree health.
The session will be Sunday, 8/11, 2:00 – 3:00 at the Barrington Village Hall.
