Bird lovers might consider spending an afternoon during the winter holiday with a visit to the Lake County Discovery Museum’s “Beguilded by the Wild: The Art of Charley Harper.” Harper used bold colors and simple, graphic shapes to create out-of-the ordinary – and often whimsical – wildlife portraits.
A concurrent exhibit, “The Passenger Pigeon’s Flight to Extinction,” marks the 100th anniversary of the extinction of the passenger pigeon. It traces how the bird went extinct and what’s being done today to prevent similar extinctions.
Both shows run until February; for more information call 847-968-3400.
