April  - Earth Day Celebrations 

April 21 – Earth Day Celebration and Workday, 9-11 a.m. at Cuba Marsh Forest Preserve. Join us to plant thousands of sedges under the mighty oaks. A light lunch will follow the event. RSVP

April 22 – Nature Walk at Flint Creek Savanna, 1-3 p.m. Join us for a guided tour of our largest preserve, and learn more about our local efforts to save and restore native prairies. Refreshments will be served.

April 16- 28 - Schools, scouts and other youth groups are invited to schedule Earth Day Events. These can include outdoor activities, tours of our preserves, in-class presentations, and so much more.

Astronomy – Ages 8-18

Observe the stars, planets, and moon through awesome telescopes provided by Northwest Suburban Astronomy League. **April-May, night time class.

July 14 – Seining the Creeks of Illinois-

Ages 6-18. 1-4 p.m.

Put on your wading shoes and help us scoop up fish, frogs, crayfish and other aquatic creatures in large nets. Observe snails, mussels, water insects and much more to learn what makes healthy water ecosystems. *Parents must accompany children under age 12.

July 28- Night Creatures: Moths and More—Ages 6-14.

Join our local entomologist as he uses special lights to attract moths we can view up close. Search for bats, owls and other night insects. *Adults welcome. Come celebrate International Moth Week for free!

August 11- Butterflies on the Prairie-

Ages 6-14.

Take a walk at Flint Creek Savanna to find butterflies and caterpillars. Get up-close looks at Monarchs in our butterfly tent!
