Barrington Area 2021 Fall Bird Walks & Hikes Announced

Barrington Area Bird Hikes for Late Summer and Fall

Track fall migration with Barrington naturalists Wendy Paulson, Barb Karon and Laura Simpson

Walks are free and open to the public. But spaces are  limited and REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED—SEE BELOW.

Duration of walks is flexible, depending on weather, length of trail  and density of sightings. Participants are free to leave whenever they need to. 

Meet in the parking lot at the time specified for the respective walks

Current COVID protocols will be observed—bring your mask, just in case. 

Also wear good walking shoes or boots…and bring your binoculars

Schedule:

Fri. Sept 10, 7:30AM – Crabtree Nature Center (3 Stover Road off of Palatine Road)

Fri. Sept 17, 7:30AM – Beverly Lake* (parking lot on north side of Higgins Rd/Rt. 72 west of Sutton Rd)

Fri. Sept 24, 8:00AM – Deer Grove East (entrance on north side of Dundee Road, west of Hicks Road, east of Smith Street. Go to farthest parking area)

Fri. Oct 1, 8:00AM – Crabtree Nature Center (3 Stover Road off of Palatine Road)

Fri. Oct 8, 8:00AM – Penny Road South* (meet at Penny Road Pond parking lot, less than a mile west of Old Sutton/Penny Rd intersection)

Fri. Oct 15, 8:00AM – Paul Douglas Preserve in Hoffman Estates, use Grassy Ridge Meadow Entrance on West Central Rd. (between Ela Rd and Freeman Rd). Park all the way to the end of the lot.

Fri. Oct 22, 8:30AM — Galloping Hill* (park at Penny Road Pond parking lot in Barrington Hills)

Fri. Oct 29, 9:00AM – Crabtree Nature Center (3 Stover Road off of Palatine Road)

Fri. Nov 5, 9:00AM – Crabtree Nature Center (3 Stover Road off of Palatine Road)

*Hikes at these sites are somewhat more strenuous than others in this series.
