“The Art of Conservation”is the theme of CFC’s Annual Meeting on March 12, 2020. Join us for this celebration of impressive achievements in 2019 and announcement of exciting plans for the coming years.

We are honored to have  Philip Juras, global artist and author on conservation and natural environments, as keynote speaker. Philip’s presentation, Picturing the Prairie, combines direct observation with study of the natural science and history of the place. His work will be a featured exhibition at the Chicago Botanic Garden from May 8 to September 20, 2020. Philip will also be presenting at the Chicago Botanic Garden, The Nature Conservancy, the Field Museum, Openlands, Forest Preserve District of Cook County. CFC is honored to have him as our keynote speaker this year.

In 2015, expert guidance from Citizens for Conservation members inspired a new direction in Philip Juras’s artistic exploration of natural landscapes. Through his landscape paintings, Philip will take us on a prairie tour from the Barrington area to nature preserves across the state. He’ll share what he’s learned about tallgrass prairie, its conservation, and its people as he shows paintings of remnants, restorations, and even a few imagined re-creations.

The resulting images invite the viewer to step through the picture plane and experience the natural world beyond. His presentation will include his work with CFC and other Illinois properties.  Phillip’s work will be exhibited at the Chicago Botanic Garden, Glencoe, Illinois, May 8 – September 20, 2020 – Picturing the Prairie, Paintings by Philip Juras,
